Special note on the story…

“Oviedo coach John Darley and members of the lacrosse community not affiliated with FHSAA member schools reported Vero Beach for the violation, according to FHSAA spokesperson Cristina Alvarez.

In an e-mail dated April 9 that was released by the FHSAA as part of a public records request, Darley wrote, “I noticed that they are presently playing in their district series and wanted to know if they are eligible to continue or if they will be held to the rules in the state manual. I’ve heard a lot of talk about this situation from players and other coaches, and I am a very concerned that they can ignore the rules, do whatever they want and still participate.”

The FHSAA did not reveal the names of others who complained.”

Special thanks in my opinion should be sent out to the coaching staffs as well as the other silent and hidden coaches/parents/administrations who reported Vero Beach to the FHSAA… Thanks for being the people to ruin the great season for a team that was probably going to be the FHSAA Girl’s Lacrosse State Champion. Does it truly matter that the girls played some of the country’s best teams and beat them? I am sure the other girls teams in the state would rather see the Fighting Indians beat on other teams rather then get blown out by Vero Beach. They sshould if anything, be thankful for them beating the out of state teams because it will draw the attention of college recruiters to scout more in Florida. But obviously the one’s reporting Vero Beach schedule to the FHSAA understand that it is ALL about the rules and not about letting the girls play the game… Thanks for being such a positive group of people, I am sure there are around 25 high school girls living in Vero who truly understand that what you think is far more important than them actually playing the game they love. This is exactly what happens when people let politics take over what really matters. It is a sport for heaven’s sake, not a Fortune 500 company lying and causing people to lose their entire retirement savings…

Next Update(s)… a review of last week’s picks from the FHSAA Boy’s Lacrosse Quarter finals as well as my complete blundering in picking the winner of the FSU verse UF game, as well as, my predictions for the FHSAA Semi-finals and Finals…
