CLEARWATER, FL – Former Johns Hopkins University lacrosse star and 2005 NCAA Player of the Year Kyle Harrison is the headline instructor at a weekend lacrosse camp to be held at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex May 15-17 . The camp is for boys ages 8-16 and features a Friday evening session as well as full days of instruction on Saturday and Sunday.
The Playmaker Lacrosse Spring Training Camp, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, provides young lacrosse players ages 8-16 with 2-1/2 days of instruction from one of the top names in all of lacrosse. Harrison, along with his staff of professional and college players, will instruct participants in all facets of the game. The program includes small-group and individual position-specific instruction as well as team-oriented instruction and competitive drills.
Friday evening’s session runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday’s activities taking place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday, and each camper will receive a Playmaker Lacrosse reversible jersey courtesy of Nike. Additional gifts, as well as awards and other surprises, will be handed out as well.
Now a member of the Los Angeles Riptide of the MLL, Harrison was the professional league’s top overall draft pick in 2005 after a standout collegiate career in which he was a three-time All-American – twice earning first-team accolades. He twice was named the NCAA midfielder of the year and was tabbed as the national player of the year following a senior campaign in which he led the Blue Jays to the national championship.
